WHO WE ARE
Meet Christie
Christie Steele-Garcia, CEO & Founder (she/her)
Christie Steele-Garcia is a fundraiser, event-planner, and leader in her field. She has worked in fundraising for three major non-profit brands in both New York City and Roanoke, VA, but began her career in a small non-profit development shop where she learned a lot by doing a little bit of everything. Her 10+ year career has spanned corporate fundraising, major gifts, campaign creation, grant writing, project management, grant management, program development, and events - A LOT of events.
Christie’s background in the arts makes her a natural collaborator, a confident leader, and a creative problem solver. Former clients, colleagues, and employers have all said, “I’ve never seen someone jump in and take charge of a problem so quickly. It’s like you’ve been working here forever.”
Christie graduated from James Madison University with a B.A. in Theatre and Dance in 2010 in her home state of Virginia. She is currently an MBA student at Radford University. Christie is a native Appalachian based in the mountains of Roanoke, VA with her spouse, daughter, and furbaby, Tuck, a rescue poodle-mix from Brooklyn, NY.

Roanoke Heart Ball 2023
The 2023 Heart Ball was a magical evening that hosted over 400 guests at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. The event involved a cocktail hour, live and silent auction, live bands and dancing, a magician, and live fundraising ask.

Roanoke Heart Ball 2022
The 2022 Heart Ball was the first indoor event Christie planned after the COVID-19 pandemic. This gala style event took place at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center and had 250 guests, silent and live auction, fundraising program, dinner, dancing, and fun!

Charlottesville Heart & Stroke Ball 2022
The 2021 Heart and Stroke Ball had 100 guests, a silent and live auction, fundraising program, dinner, dancing, and plenty of fun! This event was hosted at the Omni Charlottesville Hotel.

Roanoke Go Red for Women Luncheon 2022
This traditional luncheon style event saw nearly 100 women gather together to learn more about women's heart health at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. The event featured community resources for living a healthy lifestyle as well as a speaker that addressed maternal health disparities.

Charlottesville Heart & Stroke Walk 2021
The 2021 Charlottesville Heart and Stroke Walk was a peer-to-peer fundraiser that engaged fundraising across an entire community. The event had over 150 attendees including heart and stroke survivors. This event served as a fundraiser and awareness builder in the community around heart and brain health.

2019 Standing Strong Roanoke Luncheon
The Standing Strong Roanoke Luncheon saw record attendance and fundraising totals for the Roanoke event. The luncheon was hosted at the Taubman Museum of Art and featured celebrity speaker and author, Amber Tamblyn.

2020 Standing Strong Charlottesville

This is just one of many virtual events that Christie worked on through 2020-2021. Standing Strong Charlottesville featured a riveting speech from Irin Carmon, co-author of THE NOTORIOUS RBG. This event took place just four days after the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

2018 Walk for the Kids
The Walk for the Kids event engaged nearly 2,000 people in Brooklyn's Prospect Park and worked in partnership with Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play. The event was a peer-to-peer fundraiser and day of fun for Bigs and Littles.

2018 Accountants & Bankers Reception
The Accountants and Bankers Reception is an annual event that engages the accounting, banking, and fashion communities of New York City. This event served as a networking cocktail for the industries and featured four, c-suite level honorees. The event was hosted at the Essex Hotel.
Books for Kids Foundation
2017 Alabama Library Renovation & Ribbon Cutting
This event is just one of 16 library builds and openings Christie project managed in her time with Books for Kids. Books for Kids builds lending libraries inside schools and centers that serve low-income families. This library in Alabama was built in partnership with Justin Tuck's RUSH to Read Foundation.
